Leupold VX II Rifle Scope

The Leupold VX II - Solid Quality and Performace

The Leupold VX II is Leupold's most popular scope. Packed with high performance features at a moderate price, the Leupold VX II is a solid value.

The first feature is the proprietary Multicoat 4 lens system. This special coating delivers a high level of light transmission for superior brightness, edge to edge sharpness across the visual field, and optimal contrast. The coating also protects the lenses by making them scratch resistant and allows the lens to shed water on those wet days in the field.

The windage and elevation adjustments are 1/4 inch MOA. Meaning that at 100 yards each click changes the aim point 1/4 inch. You will need a screw driver or a coin to turn the adjustments. The VX II also incorporates a re-settable zero. Simply sight your gun in, then turn the dial indicator to point to zero. Please see the owner's manual that comes with the scope for more detailed instructions.

The VX II has a lockable eyepiece. To use, turn the eyepiece counterclockwise to loosen it from the locking ring. Point the scope at a light colored surface and turn the eye piece until the reticle appears clear and sharp. Then tighten down the locking ring to keep the eye piece from moving. You will want to adjust the eye piece every year before each hunting season as eye sight is apt to change over time and make the reticle appear fuzzy.

Most Leupold VX-II 's have the scope set parallax free for 100 yards. Several models have an adjustable objective lens to focus your scope perfectly from 50 yards to infinity. For lower powered scopes parallax is normally not a problem. But at higher power and distances parallax error can become a problem. The adjustable objective lens solves this problem.

All VX II scopes are waterproof and fog proof. Leupold seals the scopes with nitrogen gas using a proprietary sealing process. The VX II is built rugged like all Leupold scopes and tested to meet the same standards are the most expensive scopes. Leupolds are known to hold their zero after sighting in. This feature is extremely valuable by giving you confidence in your shot no matter how much rough terrain you and your rifle have had to endure before that big buck presents itself.

The power selector is typical Leupold stiff, meaning the power setting will not change accidentally. On lesser scopes, a bump can change the magnification of the scope and throw you off when you are ready to shoot.

The Leupold Duplex reticle is available on the 1-4x, 2-7x, and Leupold VX II 3-9x40mm. The Leupold Dot, wide duplex, German #4 and Target Dot reticles are options on select models. On higher power models the Long Range (LR) duplex Long Range Varmint (LRV) reticles are available. The reticles make it easy to estimate holdover for very long shots out to 600 yards.

New for 2008, a durable Leupold neoprene scope cover is included to protect your valuable VX II during transportation and storage.

The Leupold VX II delivers solid quality and performance most shooters and hunters can afford. It is a scope you should seriously consider.
